Building on its existing relationship with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Imerja was awarded, in partnership with Synetrix, the contract for the replacement and management of the authority’s perimeter firewalls.

Responding to a formal European Tender, the partnership was responsible for the migration of the authority’s existing BorderWare and Cisco firewalls, to a High Availability Check Point solution based on Crossbeam C series platforms.
As an approved Check Point Silver Partner, CCSP and an approved reseller of Crossbeam Systems, Imerja designed the solution to meet the authority’s current and future security requirements, delivered an immediate improvement in throughput and availability, and provided the foundations to support the council’s administrative, curriculum and citizen Internet access initiatives. The migration took place in May 2007, managed under PRINCE2 project management disciplines.
Imerja was also responsible for the on-going management and support of the firewalls and the provision of an ITIL based service function in support of Problem and Change Management.
As part of the same European tender process, the patnership was also awarded the provision of desktop anti-virus licenses for around 3,000 corporate desktops and the design of an internal IDP/IDS system.
