King's College Hospital NHS Trust
Industry best practice shaped by ISO 17799: 2005 standards and compliance regulations, highlights and recommends the need to adopt strong user password authentication for access to organisation systems. The trend for more complex password authentication for security reasons, combined with an ever increasing number of corporate information assets, has made user password authentication difficult to manage on a corporate scale.
“The consultancy report provided to us by Imerja was refreshingly both clear and concise, evidencing a strong grasp of the Trust’s current issues around single sign-on plus possible solutions that could help us move forward in practical steps”
Derek Farlow, ICT Security Manager
King’s College Hospital NHS Trust
King’s College Hospital NHS Trust has sought to scrutinise its own understanding of single sign-on and the implications to the Trust, and asked Imerja Limited (an accredited RSA Partner) to undertake a top-level review of the Trust’s strategy for adopting single sign-on and migrating to a single sign-on environment.
The scope of the review included:
- Top level examination of the Trust’s current ICT infrastructure as it relates to implementing RSA Sign-On Manager
- Identification of major gaps and/or issues in the existing ICT infrastructure that represent risks to the successful adoption of single sign-on
- Augment the Trust’s current understanding of single sign-on requirements
- Make appropriate recommendations on the findings
- Outline implementation requirements
- Provide budgetary capital and revenue charges
- Provide an outline Pilot implementation project plan
The outcome of the investigation was a comprehensive report against the scope of the undertaking, and plans for a more comprehensive pilot of the technology.
