Government Connect
The Government Connect (GC) programme, aimed at making joined-up government a reality for citizens, appointed Imerja as the Lead on the Technical Design Authority (TDA) work stream for the development and implementation of its three main products - GC Register, GC Exchange and GC Mail.
The programme encourages collaborative working amongst local authorities and between local authorities and central government, enabling knowledge to be pooled within a framework and accessed through a package of electronic tools, standards and guidance. The products enable local authorities to connect more effectively with their customers, with each other and with central government, allowing them to securely transmit communications across boundaries. The sharing of information in a safe, secure and timely fashion helps simplify the provision of public services and thereby sustain the effective delivery of e-government.

Government Connect
At its inception GC was led by Bolton MBC, the ODPM and the Cabinet Office e-Government Unit. From the very start Imerja worked in close partnership with GC to take the development of the concept through to the realisation of the GC product set, providing technical consultancy to the programme board and technical work streams in the areas of security, infrastructure, authentication and messaging. Imerja was responsible for the technical and quality assessment of proposals before working with lead suppliers to test solutions and confirm the technical strategy in a blueprint to the GC board. Work streams that underwent detailed assessments included secure messaging, infrastructure, single sign-on and authentication.
With the successful completion Imerja has since joined forces with The NCC Group, providing a professional services package aimed at assisting local authorities wishing to connect to the GC infrastructure.
