ian_jackson_iod_awardIan Jackson, managing director of Imerja, has been awarded the prestigious Institute of Directors (IoD) Yorkshire Bank Ackroyd award, which recognises outstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Jackson was also a finalist for the Lancashire Director of the Year Award.

Jackson commented: “I am delighted to have won this award, although it is really down to the team at Imerja who have remained committed to the company’s environmental policies and continually supported our corporate charities.

“IT offers so many solutions to help businesses reduce their carbon footprint, which should be embraced. Imerja is constantly working to offer businesses opportunities to be more ‘green’. With the Carbon Reduction Commitment due to be enforced in April 2010 for companies with an annual electricity bill of up to £500,000, businesses should really be considering now how to limit their usage.”

Claire House Hospice

At the end of 2006 Imerja employees decided to donate part of their year end bonus to Claire House, which was then double matched by the company. The hospice decided to use the donation to make its planned “Light up a Life” Tree project a reality.

The Tree is a memorial for the children that the centre has sadly lost since it was established. Initially holding 127 lights – one for each child lost – the Tree will remain a permanent fixture at the hospice providing a suitable reminder of the children that have passed away, but also as a way in which people can donate to the hospice through “buying a light” as part of its ongoing fund raising activities.

Imerja Steps up to the Premier League

On Saturday 4th November Imerja literally stepped into the Premiership through its corporate sponsorship of the match day ball for the local premiership derby between Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.

With Imerja’s head office in Blackburn and a strong customer base in the north west region Imerja elected to host a customer day at the Reebok stadium. The day, from start to finish, was well planned and executed by the BWFC officals, even down to the result which could have been laid on for the company’s Wigan based MD (result: 0-1 win to Wigan Athletic).

The corporate hospitality afforded by the club was well received, and included the formal presentation of the match ball to match officials and team captains in the centre circle ahead of the game, in front of over 21,000 fans – which in itself was a very gratifying experience!

A great day was had by all who attended, not least thanks to the hard work and organisation of the people at Bolton Wanderers Football Club corporate hospitality.

And there’s still the rest of the season to go….
